Our story

Created by medical students. Grounded in humanism.

Radio Rounds was founded to connect medicine’s science with the empathy, experience, and conversation that give it meaning.

Radio Rounds™ is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit medical talk show, created by Avash Kalra and founded with Shamie Das and Lakshman Swamy while they were medical students at the Wright State University Boonshoft School of Medicine in Dayton, Ohio.

The show was created to promote empathy and humanism in medicine, showcase the art behind the science, and connect learners with physicians, patients, authors, and healthcare leaders. Since its 2009 premiere, Radio Rounds has produced more than 100 conversations spanning physicianhood, health policy, global health, medical education, technology, and wellness.

Today’s stories in medicine, through the lens of tomorrow’s doctors.

A living archive

The collection includes conversations with Pulitzer Prize winners, physician-authors, public leaders, medical innovators, patients, and first responders. Together, these episodes preserve a student-led record of how medicine is practiced, challenged, and continually reimagined.
